A CHARTER ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A MUNICIPAL JUDGE AND AMENDING CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 2 TO CONFORM TO THE PROVISIONS HEREIN.
WHEREAS, the City of Oakley, Kansas has previously adopted Charter Ordinance No. 2, part of which provided for the election of the municipal judge (police judge); and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Oakley desires to amend said charter ordinance to allow for the appointment of the municipal judge.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF OAKLEY, KANSAS:
Section 1. At the first regular meeting in May of each year, the mayor, by and with the consent of the council, shall appoint a municipal judge.
Section 2. Provisions in Charter Ordinance No. 2 calling for the election of the police judge (municipal judge) are no longer effective, and any references to “police judge” are stricken from said charter ordinance.
